It'll be a party !!!

Summer '21 will be my 9th season with the hostel. Oh boy! Where has the time gone? Well, the saying: Time flies if you're having fun! hits the nail on the head with this exciting summer vacation place. Soon it will be May and the time for hostel fun and meeting people from all walks of life becomes reality again.

I love drinking morning coffee with other fellow early birds. Stepping out of my office in the morning feels like being on vacation without ever leaving my house. What a dream job I have?! Giving people advice on where to go, what road to explore, which hiking trail to check out, what river to canoe down on and what not to miss while being in the Golden Heart city.

At the time of writing this, Fairbanks still finds itself covered massively under a blanket of thick snow. Looking out of the window here I wonder when we finally get some feeling of spring. Temps are still low and dog mushing tours still in full swing. March has been an amazing month. After a rather slow winter, Americans were sick of staying put and started to move in big numbers to our beautiful state. Not planning on such an attack, I was totally unprepared and understaffed but thanks to the help of Jody Potts, Miriam, Emma and Leigh, we could handle the rush.

The summer bookings have steadily come in and I'm actually expecting a record season if things stay the way they are and travel up here remains as easy as now. No Covid test nor vaccine requirements at entering at this point. Our Alaska numbers are very low and the chances of catching Covid are about as low as frostbiting your fingers if you are a healthy individual. Very happy to live in Alaska during this pandemic. Everything is open, people are encouraged to wear masks in public places and the economy is back on track.

See you at the Basecamp this summer !!
